Augmented reality – on a grand scale

Event: Portugal Telecom rebranding Launch

Our challenge: Supply a spectacular medium for the reveal of the new corporate logo to 9000 delegates.

How did we do it? We supplied the world’s largest midnight blue rear projection screen, augmented reality & fantastic laser show.

The massive screen measuring 25m x 10m was the backdrop to the main stage, during the presentation the CEO opened a folder that contained a trigger for the Augmented Reality system, this revealed the new logo, which appeared behind the CEO. The dark projection screen ensured the logo was punchy and looked 3D. It was the largest Augmented Reality of its time.

The ceremony concluded with a brilliant laser show of white lights and multiple mirrors focusing heavily on the pale blue of the Portugal Telecom Logo.

We ‘froze’ a building when we launched the new S-Max for Ford in London

Event: Launch of new S-Max

Our challenge: To production manage the 3D Projection Mapping onto buildings in London & Liverpool

How did we do it? We worked with an interactive arts and technology collective to create a 3D Projection Mapping project on two pre-selected venues The Senate House in London & The Ventilation building in Liverpool.

Bespoke content created by the Arts Collective was mapped onto each
building making it appear to freeze.

With the ice creeping up the architecture and developing crevices, a projected ice climber appeared to ascend the building, climb and teeter on ledges. The finale saw the ice climber walking a long ledge with a balance pole, where a banner dropped to reveal a branded message.

The content also had an interactive element, allowing guests to shoot and cut the ice with bespoke laser guns, the cut pieces of ice crashed to the ground. C02 machines then released bursts of gas as the ice fell to create the illusion of ice clouds.

Our challenge: To supply interactive technologies and technical production.

How did we do it? We supported the Butterfly Knights production over a number of years through the supply of innovating and engaging products such as interactive floors, ibars, interactive tables, Augmented Reality and projections

Each had bespoke content created in line with the production theme; ibars were installed with content relating to the sponsor – branded coasters appearing when glasses were placed on the bar. Interactive table had a number of games that were branded in coordination with both the theme, and the sponsor.

Voice Activated Holograms

Event: Launch for the new Ford Fiesta

Our challenge: To design and produce a life size voice activated hologram

How did we do it? iFX Media were selected from the competition to design and create a solution for a voice interactive life size hologram of a Ford Fiesta to tour Europe.

With partners involved from Italy, Hong Kong and Portugal and designed a technical solution that delivered beyond the clients expectations. We provided the voice activated hologram for the launch of the new Ford Fiesta and to top it off - to make the person controlling the hologram appear inside the driving seat of the holographic car in real time.

The animated car had to respond to the guests voice commands, everything from jumping, wheelies, to dancing. To achieve this we had to create a 3D model of the new car and animate it to perform its commands. We worked extremely closely with the agencies creative department and the end client to ensure all details were perfect.

Our communication system used a voice activation platform, which linked with our playback system of high-powered servers and created the interactive playback. The real time appearance of the guest in the driving seat was achieved using a specialist chroma key LED system. These elements combined to make a brilliant interactive hologram experience.
